Care

Herald's Angelfish are relatively hardy and can adapt to life in captivity if provided with the right conditions. They require an aquarium with plenty of hiding places and a tight-fitting lid, as they are known to be skilled jumpers. These fish are carnivorous and should be fed a varied diet of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other prepared foods suitable for carnivorous fish.

Reproduction

In the wild, Sargocentron vexillarium forms large aggregations during spawning events, which usually occur around dusk. In the home aquarium, breeding these fish can be challenging, and successful captive breeding is rare. Hobbyists interested in breeding should provide a large, species-specific tank with multiple individuals to increase the chances of natural pairing.

Habitat

Herald's Angelfish are found in the Indo-Pacific region, from the Red Sea and East Africa to the central Pacific. They prefer reef environments and are typically found at depths ranging from shallow waters to about 60 meters. In the aquarium, they should be provided with an environment that mimics their natural habitat, with plenty of live rock for shelter and foraging.
