Family
Common name: Requiem sharks
Scientific name: Carcharhinidae
The Carcharhinidae family, commonly known as Requiem sharks, includes species like the Blacktip and Tiger sharks. These sharks are characterized by their nictitating membranes which cover the eyes for protection, and they are often found in warm, shallow waters. In the aquarium trade, smaller species such as the Blacktip Reef shark can be kept by experienced aquarists with very large systems, but they require extensive care and resources. Requiem sharks are not recommended for casual hobbyists due to their size and complex needs.
