Common name: Zebra sharks
Scientific name: Stegostomatidae
Stegostomatidae, commonly known as Zebra sharks, are a family of carpet sharks known for their distinctive striped juvenile pattern which transitions to spots in adulthood. They are a popular choice for large marine aquariums due to their docile nature and unique appearance. Zebra sharks are nocturnal and spend the day resting on the seabed, making them an interesting species to observe in captivity. They require a large tank with plenty of open space to accommodate their size and swimming behavior. In the wild, they are found in the tropical Indo-Pacific region, often around coral reefs.
