Common name: Star Coral

Scientific name: Astrosclera

Astrosclera, commonly known as Star Coral, is a genus of scleractinian corals known for their distinctive star-shaped corallites. These corals are slow-growing and can form massive, dome-shaped colonies. They are found in a variety of reef environments but prefer shallow, clear waters where they can receive ample sunlight for their symbiotic algae, zooxanthellae, which live within their tissues and aid in photosynthesis. Star Corals are relatively hardy in a reef aquarium setting, but they require stable water conditions and moderate to high lighting to thrive.
