Genus

Common name: Clover Polyps

Scientific name: Clavularia

Clavularia is a genus of soft corals commonly known as Clover Polyps or Star Polyps. These corals are popular in the reefkeeping hobby for their ease of care and their ability to rapidly cover surfaces with a mat of interconnected polyps. They exhibit a range of colors, often with vibrant green or purple hues, and have a peaceful temperament, making them suitable for mixed reef aquariums. Clavularia species are photosynthetic and host symbiotic zooxanthellae, which assist in their nutrition, but they also benefit from occasional feedings of planktonic foods.
