Genus
Common name: Wobbegong
Scientific name: Orectolobus
Orectolobus, commonly known as wobbegong or carpet sharks, are a genus of bottom-dwelling sharks known for their distinctive camouflage that resembles a carpet pattern. They are found in shallow temperate and tropical waters around Australia and Indonesia. Wobbegongs are nocturnal and typically lie motionless during the day, blending into the reef environment. Their diet consists mainly of small fish and invertebrates. Due to their size and sedentary nature, they are not recommended for home aquariums but are fascinating in larger public aquariums.
