Care
Red Margin Fairy Wrasses are relatively hardy and can adapt to life in captivity if provided with a well-established aquarium that mimics their natural environment. They require a tank with plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging, as well as open swimming spaces. A varied diet of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood will help maintain their health and coloration.
Reproduction
In the wild, Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus forms harems consisting of a dominant male and several females. They are protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning females have the ability to turn into males if the dominant male is lost. In the aquarium, breeding is less common, but with a stable environment and careful attention to water quality, it is possible to observe their fascinating courtship displays.
Habitat
Red Margin Fairy Wrasses are found in the Western Pacific, from the Ryukyu Islands to the Great Barrier Reef. They prefer reef slopes and rubble areas where they can find plenty of food and shelter. In the aquarium, replicating this environment will provide them with the security they need to thrive.
