Care

Whiskered Velvetfish require a specialized aquarium setup that mimics their natural rocky and reef environments. They thrive in tanks with plenty of live rock for hiding and hunting. These fish are carnivorous and prefer a diet of small crustaceans and fish. Care should be taken to ensure they are not housed with small, peaceful fish or invertebrates that could become prey.

Reproduction

Little is known about the breeding habits of Congrogadus subducens in the wild or in captivity. However, like many marine fish, they are likely to have a complex life cycle that includes a planktonic larval stage.

Habitat

The Whiskered Velvetfish is found in the Indo-Pacific region, from the Red Sea and East Africa to Samoa, and north to the Ryukyu Islands. They are typically associated with coral and rocky reefs, often hiding in crevices during the day and becoming more active at night.
