Care
Jackknife Fish require a spacious tank with plenty of hiding places and room to swim. They are generally peaceful but can be territorial with their own kind, so it's best to keep them singly unless the aquarium is large enough to support multiple territories. They thrive on a varied diet of meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, and small fish.
Reproduction
In the wild, Jackknife Fish are known to form spawning aggregations, and males produce a drumming sound to attract females. However, breeding in the home aquarium is rare and not well documented.
Habitat
Native to the Western Atlantic, from Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to Brazil, the Jackknife Fish is typically found in reef environments. They prefer areas with sandy bottoms and coral outcrops where they can forage for food and seek shelter.
