Care
One-lined Rainbowfish are relatively hardy and adaptable to aquarium life. They thrive in well-established tanks with plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging. These wrasses are active swimmers and benefit from ample swimming space. They are not overly aggressive but may show territorial behavior towards other wrasses. A varied diet of meaty foods, such as mysis shrimp and finely chopped seafood, will help maintain their health and coloration.
Reproduction
In the wild, Labrichthys unilineatus is known to be a protogynous hermaphrodite, meaning individuals start life as females and can change to males as they mature. In the aquarium, breeding is not commonly observed, but providing a stress-free environment with plenty of hiding places can encourage natural behaviors.
Habitat
The One-lined Rainbowfish is found in the Indo-Pacific region, typically inhabiting coral reefs and lagoons. They prefer areas with abundant coral growth and clear waters where they can easily hunt for small invertebrates.
