Care

Trimma halonevum is a hardy species that can thrive in a well-established aquarium with stable water conditions. They prefer tanks with plenty of live rock and crevices for hiding. Due to their small size, they are best kept in nano or small-sized aquariums where they are less likely to be outcompeted for food by larger tank mates. A varied diet of small live and frozen foods such as copepods, brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp will help maintain their health and coloration.

Reproduction

Like many gobies, Trimma halonevum is an egg-laying species. They often spawn in the aquarium, with the male guarding the eggs until they hatch. The fry are extremely small and require microscopic food sources such as infusoria or rotifers initially, making rearing a challenge for the hobbyist.

Habitat

The Halonevum Pygmy Goby is found in the Western Pacific, typically in coral reef environments. They inhabit shallow waters and are often observed in and around coral rubble or living corals, where they seek refuge from predators and hunt for small invertebrates to feed on.
