Family
Common name: Tulip snails
Scientific name: Fasciolariidae
Fasciolariidae, commonly known as tulip snails and horse conchs, are a family of large predatory sea snails. They are characterized by their elongated shells and siphonal canals. In the reef aquarium, they can be both beneficial and problematic. They help control populations of smaller, unwanted snails but may also prey on desirable invertebrates. Fasciolariids are more suited to larger systems where their predatory nature can be accommodated without harm to tank mates.
