Common name: Spanish Dancer Nudibranchs

Scientific name: Hexabranchidae

The Hexabranchidae family, commonly known as Spanish Dancer Nudibranchs, includes some of the most flamboyant and large sea slugs. The most famous member, Hexabranchus sanguineus, is known for its bright red color and graceful swimming that resembles a flamenco dancer's skirt, hence the name. These nudibranchs are popular in the hobby for their striking appearance but require specialized care. They feed on sponges and need a well-established tank with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding.
