Family
Common name: Nudibranchs
Scientific name: Tergipedidae
Tergipedidae is a family of small, often brightly colored sea slugs known as aeolid nudibranchs. They are popular in the reefkeeping hobby for their pest control abilities, particularly in preying on nuisance aiptasia anemones. These nudibranchs possess cerata, finger-like appendages on their back, which can contain stinging cells (nematocysts) acquired from their prey. They require specific diets, usually consisting of certain types of anemones or hydroids, and thus can be challenging to sustain in captivity without a steady food source.
