Genus
Common name: Beaded Sea Anemone
Scientific name: Anemonia
Anemonia is a genus of sea anemones commonly known as Beaded Sea Anemones. They are characterized by their distinctive tentacles that resemble a string of beads, hence the name. Anemonia species are popular in the reefkeeping hobby for their vibrant colors and relatively easy care. They host a variety of symbiotic relationships, notably with clownfish, which seek refuge among their tentacles. Anemonia anemones are photosynthetic, relying on symbiotic algae, zooxanthellae, for nutrition, but they also capture prey with their stinging tentacles.
