Cirrhitops is a genus of marine fish known as Fringefin Hawkfish, belonging to the family Cirrhitidae. These small, colorful fish are popular in the reef aquarium hobby for their unique appearance and behavior. They have distinctive fringed dorsal fins and are known for perching on coral branches or rockwork, often in a motionless manner, waiting to pounce on small prey. They are generally hardy and can adapt to life in captivity, but they may show territorial behavior and should be housed with caution around smaller, more timid tank mates.
