Scientific name: Cymbacephalus

Cymbacephalus is a genus of fish known commonly as flathead fish or crocodilefish, belonging to the family Platycephalidae. These fish are characterized by a flattened head and body, aiding in their camouflage on sandy or muddy substrates. They are ambush predators, lying in wait for prey to pass by before striking. In the aquarium, they require a sandy bottom and ample hiding places. They can be predatory towards smaller tank mates, so caution is advised when selecting compatible species.
