Genus
Common name: Lyretail Hawkfish
Scientific name: Cyprinocirrhites
Cyprinocirrhites is a genus of marine fish known commonly as Lyretail Hawkfish, belonging to the family Cirrhitidae. These fish are popular in the reef aquarium hobby for their vibrant colors and interesting behavior. They are characterized by their elongated dorsal fins and distinctive lyre-shaped tail. They are generally hardy and can adapt to a variety of tank conditions, but they do require plenty of live rock for perching and hunting small invertebrates. While peaceful towards most tankmates, they may prey on small shrimp and other tiny crustaceans.
