Genus

Common name: Razorfish

Scientific name: Iniistius

Iniistius is a genus of fish commonly known as Razorfish or Shrimpfish, recognized for their unique, elongated bodies and ability to blend into their surroundings. These fish are often found hovering in a vertical position among seagrasses and corals, mimicking the appearance of floating debris to evade predators. In the aquarium, they require a well-established tank with plenty of hiding places and a sandy substrate to mimic their natural habitat. They are peaceful species that can be kept with other non-aggressive fish. Razorfish are carnivorous, feeding on small crustaceans and zooplankton in the wild, so a diet of meaty foods like mysis shrimp and brine shrimp is recommended.
