Genus

Common name: Tawny Nurse Shark

Scientific name: Nebrius

The genus Nebrius includes the Tawny Nurse Shark, a docile species often found in the Indo-Pacific region. These sharks are nocturnal and spend their days resting in caves or under ledges. In the aquarium, they require large tanks with plenty of hiding spaces and a sandy bottom to mimic their natural habitat. They are not aggressive towards humans but can be towards smaller tank mates. Their diet in captivity should include a variety of meaty foods such as fish, squid, and shrimp.
