Common name: Lookdown

The genus Selene, commonly known as Lookdowns or Moonfish, comprises several species of fish recognized for their distinctive, laterally compressed bodies and elongated dorsal fins. These fish are silver in color and exhibit a unique, almost metallic sheen. They are often appreciated in public aquariums for their striking appearance and schooling behavior. In the home aquarium, they require ample swimming space and a diet rich in variety, including meaty foods and occasionally live prey to mimic their natural hunting instincts.
