Taeniurops is a genus of rays commonly known as the Blotched Fantail Rays, belonging to the family Dasyatidae. These rays are characterized by their distinctive blotchy patterns and large, rounded pectoral fin discs that resemble a fan. They are benthic creatures, often found resting on sandy bottoms in shallow tropical and subtropical waters. In the aquarium, they require large tanks with plenty of open sand area to mimic their natural habitat. They are not commonly kept by hobbyists due to their size and specialized care needs.
