Care

Marley's Butterflyfish requires a well-established aquarium with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. They are not considered reef-safe as they may nip at coral polyps and sessile invertebrates. A varied diet of meaty foods, including mysis shrimp and marine flakes, is essential for their health.

Reproduction

In the wild, butterflyfish are generally monogamous and have complex courtship behaviors. While breeding in captivity is rare, providing a stress-free environment with plenty of space can encourage natural reproductive behaviors.

Habitat

Native to the Western Indian Ocean, particularly around South Africa and Mozambique, Chaetodon marleyi is typically found in coastal reefs and lagoons. They prefer clear waters where they can easily spot their prey and potential predators.
