Common name: Feather Star

Scientific name: Antedonidae

Antedonidae, commonly known as feather stars or crinoids, are a family of marine invertebrates characterized by their feather-like arms which they use for filter feeding. Members of this family exhibit a wide range of colors and can add a dynamic element to a reef aquarium. They are generally peaceful and can coexist with a variety of tank mates. Feather stars are fascinating due to their regenerative abilities, being able to regrow lost arms. They require moderate to strong water flow and plenty of suspended particulate food to thrive in captivity.
