Family

Common name: Camel shrimp

Scientific name: Rhynchocinetidae

The Rhynchocinetidae family, commonly known as Camel shrimp, Hinge-beak shrimp, or Dancing shrimp, includes a variety of ornamental shrimp species popular in the reefkeeping hobby. These shrimp are known for their unique ability to move their rostrum (beak) up and down, a feature that gives them the 'hinge-beak' name. They are active and entertaining to watch, often seen performing a 'dancing' motion. They are generally peaceful but can be opportunistic feeders, so caution is advised with small snails and sessile invertebrates. They thrive in well-established tanks with plenty of hiding places and stable water conditions.
