Genus
Common name: Tube Anemone
Scientific name: Ceriantheopsis
Ceriantheopsis is a genus of tube-dwelling anemones commonly known as Tube Anemones. They are characterized by their long, tube-like structure and vibrant colors, often displaying fluorescent tips. Unlike reef-building corals, they do not possess zooxanthellae and therefore do not require intense lighting. Tube Anemones are nocturnal and extend their tentacles at night to feed on small organisms. They are relatively easy to care for but need a deep sand bed to accommodate their tube. They can add a unique and dynamic element to a reef aquarium, but their predatory nature means they should be kept with caution around small fish and invertebrates.
