Genus
Common name: Granulated Sea Star
Scientific name: Choriaster
Choriaster is a genus of sea stars commonly known as the Granulated Sea Star or Cookie Star. These sea stars are popular in the reefkeeping hobby for their distinctive appearance, with five broad, short arms and a granulated texture. They are generally peaceful and can be beneficial by consuming detritus. However, they require a well-established aquarium with plenty of live rock and a sandy substrate to thrive. Choriaster sea stars are sensitive to water quality and should only be introduced to mature, stable tanks.
