Genus

Common name: Cushion Starfish

Scientific name: Culcita

Culcita is a genus of starfish commonly known as Cushion Starfish, found in tropical waters. These starfish have a distinctive pentagon-shaped body and are often brightly colored, making them popular in the reef aquarium hobby. They are generally peaceful and can coexist with many other reef inhabitants. However, they may feed on sessile invertebrates and small slow-moving fish, so tank mates should be chosen with care. Culcita species are omnivorous and will benefit from a varied diet in captivity.
