Genus

Common name: Terebellid Worms

Scientific name: Loimia

Loimia is a genus of marine segmented worms belonging to the family Terebellidae, commonly known as Terebellid or Spaghetti Worms. These worms are characterized by their long, slender, tentacle-like appendages which they use to gather food particles from the surrounding water. They are often found buried in sand or mud with only their tentacles visible. In reef aquariums, they can be beneficial detritivores, helping to break down waste and aerate the substrate. However, they should be introduced with caution as some species can grow quite large and may disturb the tank's aquascape.
