Macolor is a genus of snappers found in the Indo-Pacific region, known for their striking black and white juvenile coloration which transitions to a more muted tone in adulthood. They are nocturnal predators, feeding on small fish and invertebrates. In the aquarium, they require large tanks with plenty of hiding spaces and can be kept with other large, peaceful fish. They are not considered reef safe as they may prey on small fish and invertebrates.
