Genus
Common name: Threadfin Anthias
Scientific name: Nemanthias
Nemanthias is a genus of small, brightly colored reef fish known as Threadfin Anthias. These fish are popular in the reefkeeping hobby for their vibrant hues and dynamic swimming behavior. They are typically found in the Indo-Pacific region and prefer to dwell in mid-water or near the reef. In the aquarium, they require a well-established tank with plenty of hiding places and a diet rich in zooplankton. Threadfin Anthias are social creatures and do best in groups, with a single male typically dominating a harem of females. They are known for their ability to change sex from female to male, a process called protogynous hermaphroditism.
