Ophioderma is a genus of echinoderms belonging to the class Ophiuroidea, commonly known as brittle stars or serpent stars. These invertebrates are characterized by their long, slender arms which they use for locomotion. They are an excellent choice for reef aquariums as they help in detritus removal and provide a natural behavior display. Ophioderma species are generally nocturnal and hide under rocks or in crevices during the day. They are scavengers and omnivores, feeding on small particles of food, which makes them beneficial for maintaining water quality.
