Genus

Common name: Slipper Lobster

Scientific name: Parribacus

Parribacus is a genus of slipper lobsters found in tropical and subtropical waters. Unlike their clawed cousins, these crustaceans have flattened, shovel-like antennae and a smooth carapace. They are nocturnal, hiding under rocks or in crevices during the day. In the aquarium, they require plenty of hiding spaces and a diet rich in meaty foods. They are generally peaceful but can be territorial with their own kind. Their unique appearance and behavior make them interesting, albeit less common, additions to larger marine aquariums.
