Phimochirus is a genus of crabs commonly known as Emerald Crabs. These small, greenish crustaceans are popular in reef aquariums for their algae-eating habits, helping to control nuisance algae growth. They are generally peaceful and can coexist with most tank inhabitants, although they may occasionally nip at small polyps or slow-moving fish. They are nocturnal and prefer to hide during the day, emerging at night to feed. Providing them with ample hiding places and a varied diet that includes meaty foods and algae will ensure their well-being in captivity.
