Common name: Bubble Coral

Scientific name: Plerogyra

Plerogyra, commonly known as Bubble Coral, is a genus of large polyp stony corals known for their distinctive bubble-like appearance when expanded during the day. They are popular in the reefkeeping hobby for their unique look and relatively easy care requirements. Bubble Corals prefer low to moderate lighting and water flow, and they can extend sweeper tentacles at night to capture prey or defend their space. They form symbiotic relationships with zooxanthellae, which help them with photosynthesis. It's important to provide ample space in the aquarium as they can be aggressive towards other corals.
