Genus
Common name: Feather Duster Worm
Scientific name: Salmacina
Salmacina is a genus of polychaete worms known for their ornate, feathery appendages which they use for respiration and feeding. These segmented worms are often found in reef tanks, where they can contribute to the biological diversity and help with detritus breakdown. They are generally peaceful and can coexist with a wide range of tank mates. Salmacina species are tube-dwellers, constructing tubes out of mucus and sediment, which they attach to rocks or the aquarium glass.
