The most famous species within this genus is Thaumoctopus mimicus, commonly referred to as the Mimic Octopus. This octopus can imitate the appearance and movements of more than 15 different species, including lionfish, flatfish, and sea snakes. While fascinating, they require expert care in captivity due to their specialized needs and intelligence. They need a varied diet, plenty of hiding spots, and a secure tank to prevent escape.
