Care

Brock's Anemone Shrimp are not particularly demanding in terms of care. They require a well-established aquarium with plenty of live rock and hiding places. These shrimps are omnivorous and will accept a variety of foods, including frozen and flake foods, but they particularly enjoy small meaty foods like brine shrimp or mysis. It's important to ensure they are not outcompeted for food by larger, more aggressive tank mates.

Reproduction

In the wild, Periclimenes brockii are known to reproduce via a larval stage, with females carrying the eggs until they hatch. In the aquarium, breeding can occur, but raising the larvae to adulthood can be challenging due to their planktonic nature and the need for very fine foods during the early stages of development.

Symbiosis

One of the most interesting aspects of Brock's Anemone Shrimp is their symbiotic relationship with certain anemones and corals. They are often found living among the tentacles of host anemones such as @species:entacmaea-quadricolor, where they receive protection from predators. The shrimp, in turn, may help keep the anemone clean by removing detritus and uneaten food.

Habitat

Periclimenes brockii is typically found in the Indo-Pacific region, from the Red Sea and East Africa to the central Pacific. They inhabit coral reefs and are often associated with anemones, where they can be found at various depths, usually not exceeding 30 meters.
