Family

Common name: Seagrass Family

Scientific name: Cymodoceaceae

Cymodoceaceae, commonly known as the Seagrass Family, includes several genera of marine flowering plants. These seagrasses are important ecologically, forming underwater meadows that provide habitat and food for a diverse range of marine life. In the aquarium trade, they are less common but can be kept in refugiums or large tanks to mimic natural habitats and aid in nutrient export. They require strong lighting, a substrate to root in, and are sensitive to water quality, needing clean, nutrient-rich conditions to thrive.
