Ophiuridae, commonly known as Brittle Stars or Serpent Stars, are a family of echinoderms characterized by their distinct long, slender arms which are often used for locomotion. They are a diverse group with many species well-suited for reef aquariums. Brittle stars are generally nocturnal and are excellent scavengers, helping to keep the substrate clean. They are also known for their ability to regenerate lost limbs. In the wild, some species engage in fascinating symbiotic relationships with other marine organisms.
