Genus

Common name: Sea Biscuit

Scientific name: Brissus

Brissus is a genus of sea urchins commonly known as Sea Biscuits. They are characterized by their flattened, round bodies and fine, dense spines that give them a furry appearance. In the reef aquarium, they can serve as sand sifters, helping to aerate and clean the substrate. They are generally peaceful and can coexist with a variety of tank mates. However, they may inadvertently harm small, delicate corals or invertebrates due to their burrowing behavior. It's important to provide them with a sandy bottom and ample space to roam.
