Common name: Blennies

Ecsenius is a genus of fish in the family Blenniidae, commonly known as combtooth blennies. These small, active, and colorful fish are popular in the reef aquarium hobby for their personality and algae-eating habits. They are generally peaceful and can be kept with a variety of other reef-safe fish and invertebrates. Ecsenius species are known for their distinctive elongated bodies, continuous dorsal fins, and the ability to perch on rocks and corals using their pelvic fins. They are excellent choices for controlling algae in the aquarium but require plenty of hiding spaces and a mature tank with established microfauna.
