Reeflings
Genus

Common name: Mushroom Coral

Scientific name: Fungia

Fungia is a genus of marine corals commonly known as Mushroom, Plate, or Disk Corals. They are solitary, free-living corals often found in shallow reef environments. Unlike many corals, Fungia species are not attached to the substrate but can move slightly. They exhibit a wide range of colors and are popular for their unique shape and ease of care in reef aquariums. Fungia corals are photosynthetic and host zooxanthellae, symbiotic algae that provide them with nutrients. They also feed on small particles and plankton.
