Common name: Goniastrea

Scientific name: Goniastrea

Goniastrea is a genus of hardy stony corals known for their robustness and adaptability in a reef aquarium setting. These corals are characterized by their brain-like appearance, with a maze of ridges and valleys. They come in a variety of colors, often exhibiting beautiful fluorescent hues under actinic lighting. Goniastrea corals are relatively slow-growing but can become a centerpiece in a mature tank. They are tolerant of a range of lighting conditions but do best under moderate to high lighting with some water flow to keep their surfaces clean of detritus.
