Genus
Common name: False Cleanerfish
Scientific name: Paraluteres
Paraluteres prionurus, commonly known as the False Cleanerfish, is a species of filefish that mimics the appearance and behavior of the true cleaner wrasse, Labroides dimidiatus. This mimicry allows the False Cleanerfish to deceive predators and obtain food. They are relatively small and can be kept in aquariums with peaceful tank mates. However, they may nip at the fins of other fish, especially if not well-fed, so caution is advised when introducing them to a community tank.
