Care

Stylophora Coral is a moderately demanding species that requires stable water conditions to thrive. It prefers strong lighting and moderate to high water flow to mimic its natural reef environment. Calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium levels should be maintained to support its skeletal growth. Regular feeding with microplankton or other coral foods can enhance its growth and coloration.

Symbiosis

While Stylophora pistillata does not have the same level of symbiosis with fish as some other corals, it does host a variety of small reef invertebrates. These include commensal crabs and shrimp that may find refuge among its branches, contributing to a diverse and balanced reef ecosystem in the aquarium.

Habitat

Stylophora pistillata is found in the shallow waters of the Red Sea, Indo-Pacific, and Great Barrier Reef. It typically inhabits upper reef slopes and reef flats where it is exposed to strong light and water movement. This coral is adaptable and can be found at various depths, often forming dense thickets that provide habitat for a multitude of marine life.
