Genus

Common name: Blenny

Scientific name: Salarias

Salarias is a genus of blennies often recognized for their algae-eating habits, making them a popular choice for reef aquariums to help control algae growth. Members of this genus, such as the well-known Salarias fasciatus, are characterized by their distinctive sail-like dorsal fins and their ability to perch on rocks and corals. They are generally peaceful and can coexist with a variety of tank mates. However, they do require established tanks with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding.
